About Burmese

Burmese cats trace their origins to a single chocolate-brown cat named Wong Mau, brought from Burma (Myanmar) to the United States in 1930. They're compact, muscular cats with a distinctive satin-like coat that feels like silk. Burmese are extraordinarily people-oriented, often following their owners everywhere and demanding attention with their persistent, raspy voice. They remain playful and kitten-like well into adulthood.

Size: Medium cat breed, 3.5-5.5kg adult weightActivity: High

Dietary Needs

Medium breed cat food with quality animal protein maintains their muscular, compact build. Burmese cats can be prone to diabetes, so controlled carbohydrate levels are beneficial. Their satin coat needs omega fatty acid support to maintain its distinctive sheen. Weight management is important as they age, despite their naturally muscular appearance.

Common health concerns: Diabetes mellitus, hypokalaemia, cranial deformities, orofacial pain syndrome
