Hill's Prescription Diet u/d Urinary Care is a dry dog food for dogs prone to harder-to-manage bladder stones — calcium oxalate, urate and cystine — that don't respond to standard urinary diets. The formula is designed for long-term feeding to prevent stone recurrence after surgical removal or detection.

Reduced protein, controlled minerals and added potassium citrate work together to alkalinise urine and reduce the precursors that form oxalate, urate and cystine crystals. Increased dietary moisture and sodium support healthy urine flow and dilution. Omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants support the urinary tract lining. Use only under veterinary direction after stone analysis.

Vets prescribe u/d when stone analysis rules out struvite (which c/d handles) — owners then commit to long-term feeding because surgery for recurrent stones is invasive and expensive. Consistent feeding is the best defence.
