NexGard Spectra for small dogs is a monthly beef-flavoured chew that delivers comprehensive parasite coverage in a single dose. The small breed formula is dosed for dogs weighing 3.6 to 7.5kg — roughly the Shih Tzu, Pug, or Beagle end of the spectrum — and covers fleas, ticks, mites, lice, heartworm, and intestinal worms. Available in 3-pack and 6-pack formats.

Afoxolaner and milbemycin oxime are the active ingredients. Afoxolaner kills fleas and ticks by disrupting their nervous systems; milbemycin oxime prevents heartworm and treats roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms. For small dogs, palatability genuinely matters — pill hiding rarely works on a dog that's already learned the trick — and the soft beef chew is accepted readily by most. Monthly dosing also reduces the zoonotic risk of certain intestinal parasites that can transfer to humans.
