Troy Laxapet Gel is a veterinary product for the treatment of hairballs and constipation in cats and dogs. It's a paraffin-based laxative gel given orally, designed to soften stool and ease the passage of swallowed hair.

The active ingredient is liquid paraffin, which works as a lubricant laxative. It isn't absorbed by the body but coats stool and any obstructing hair to assist passage through the gut. It's flavoured for palatability so most pets accept it directly from the tube or off a paw. Particularly useful for long-haired cats prone to hairballs and for dogs with occasional constipation. Available in a 100g tube. Avoid mixing with food in a way that causes the pet to inhale the paraffin; feed it directly.

Laxapet is the default product Australian vets recommend for routine hairball management and mild constipation in cats. It's been around long enough that owners with long-haired breeds usually have a tube in the cupboard.
