The Halti Headcollar is a training aid designed by animal behaviourist Dr Roger Mugford to address lead pulling in dogs. It works by controlling head direction — when the head goes, the body follows — giving handlers meaningful control without relying on neck pressure or aversive corrections. Available in black, it fits a range of breeds.

The headcollar loops around the muzzle and behind the ears, attaching to a lead at the chin ring. The fit allows the dog to pant, drink, and carry toys normally — it is not a muzzle. Padding on the nose loop and neck strap improve comfort during longer walks. The design is widely used as a humane alternative to choke chains or prong collars for dogs with persistent pulling habits.

Most owners who try the Halti have already worked through front-clip harnesses without success. The head control mechanism tends to work quickly — dogs adjust within a few sessions — making it a practical option for strong-pulling breeds or handlers who need better control from the first walk.
